About us

Who we are, what this portal does, and where your contribution goes.

01The Anusandhan National Research Foundation

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) is the apex body established by the Government of India to seed, grow and promote research and development, and to foster a culture of research and innovation across India’s universities, colleges, research institutions and laboratories.

ANRF funds research across the natural sciences, engineering, mathematics, environmental and earth sciences, health, agriculture, and the humanities and social sciences.

02What this portal is for

This portal allows individuals and organisations to contribute towards ANRF’s research programmes. It exists because supporters repeatedly asked for a direct way to give.

Unlike a general appeal, a contribution here is directed at a programme you choose. All 56 ANRF programmes are open for support, from early-career grants to national missions.

03Where your contribution goes

Contributions are received into ANRF’s designated bank account and applied towards the programme selected by the donor.

Where a contribution exceeds ₹1,000, we invite you to tell us how you would like it used, for instance towards research staff, equipment, fieldwork or student support. We take these preferences seriously, though the final allocation of funds rests with ANRF and is subject to its governing rules.

04Tax treatment

Contributions to ANRF may qualify for deduction under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. A receipt is issued by email once a payment is confirmed.

ANRF’s 80G registration number is to be provided by ANRF and its PAN is to be provided by ANRF. Donors should retain the receipt for their records and consult their own tax adviser.
